1. In 1980, a company called Televoice International launched the first US-wide Voicemail service.

The Motorola Pageboy, a basic “pager” or “beeper,” launched in 1974, can be used with answering services that takedown messages when busy / no-answer overloads happen during business hours while also handling after-hours calls for companies who want to provide service outside their normal workday.
